Always Get It In Writing
Always get it in writing. When I first started practicing law I was taught the invaluable lesson that “it doesn’t exist if is not in writing.” Meaning, although an oral agreement can be enforceable, an agreement is much easier to prove and difficult to deny if it is documented. This applies to promises of promotion or work arrangements, agreements for services or business agreements.
If you take the time to memorialize the terms, you make sure there is a meeting of the minds, avoid misunderstandings and have evidence of the agreement for future reference.
